Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A day after the general body meeting of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) witnessed chaos over the proposal congratulating chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde for expediting the new water supply project, the AIMIM on Saturday questioned logic behind the proposal.
Leader of opposition in the CSMC and AIMIM leader Abdul Sameer Sajid, said, "After the missed deadline of March 2024,Fadnavis and Shinde in Jan had assured that Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar will get a smooth water supply in "next two months". While the project is bound to remain incomplete in next two years, we do not have any idea why the ruling party corporators are keen to congratulate the govt.".
When tabled in the general body, the proposal sparked a war of words between BJP and Shiv Sena (UBT) with the latter claiming that the name of then CM and the party leader Uddhav Thackeray was deliberately omitted.
The AIMIM leaders said ruling party leaders were misleading citizens on the progress of the water supply project. "No authentic information is being given to us on the progress of the project. On the contrary, a congratulation proposal is tabled by keeping everybody in dark about the fate of the project," Sajid said.
Meanwhile, the general body meeting concerned also saw AIMIM corporators staging walk out after the development of renaming of the city was raked up by BJP and others. The AIMIM leaders said ruling party leaders should talk on the water supply project and overall development of the city instead of taking up old matters.
